The Organisation of National Societies of Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning in the Northern countries (SCANVAC) awards one of the most prominent characters in the Scandinavian HVAC industry, Mr. Jørn Simonsen, the SCANVAC Prize.
The four chairmen of the Northern HVAC societies were unanimous in their decision to award Jørn Simonsen, Ms of Science in Engineering, the SCANVAC Prize for 2012.

The new Swedish government bill on research, which is to be taken in the first quarter of 2013, sustainable Housing an planning is granted a considerably increased research budget. However, there is no noticeable ambition for indoor environment research in the government bill.

According to tradition Danvak – the Danish Society of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning – held its annual conference on HVAC issues in April. The Conference, called Danvak Dagen (The Danvak Day) was attended by 145 people and the exhibitors represented included KNX National Group Denmark, WindowMaster, TT-Coil, Swegon and Dansk Ventilation.

The national societies  DANVAK – the Danish society, founded in 1945, 2500 members
 FINVAC – the Finish society, founded in 1930, 6000 members
 ICEVAC – the Icelandic society, founded in 1986, 400 members
 NORVAC – the Norwegian society, founded in 1924, 3500 members
 SWEDVAC – the Swedish society, founded 1909, 7100 members
The Scanvac organization Scanvac is a body for the promotion of close cooperation between the national HVAC societies.They are professional and technical societies devoted to promoting the arts and sciences of heat-ing, ventilating, air conditioning and allied technologies and training activities in these fields.
The corresponding societies in the Baltic states Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are associated members of Scanvac.

Membership Any qualified individual may apply for membership in Scanvac´s member
societies and, upon approval of the Board of Directors, become a member or a
Student Member.
Membership in Scanvac´s societies is an indication of stature and
professional integrity. Through active participation in the affairs of
member societies, members develop their professional abilities and contribute to
existing technical knowledge.
